Motivation VS Discipline
Motivation -The state or condition of being motivated
Discipline - Regimented training of oneself, usually for improvement.
This 2 factors will greatly determine how far you will go in cheer and in life.
Most people are easily motivated by external stimuli.
Such as scoldings , motivational talks and etc.
Such motivation will only last for a while, making everyone fired up and raring to go.
Your stunts hit , your tumbling is smoother blah blah.
Then the training ends. Then ,next training BAM everything is gone.
Even the stunts that you hit.
Which makes the effort put in by the coaches or people useless.
Then it makes you lose your own drive and cause you to sink into a bottomless pit of negativity.
Then with that negative forcefield around you.
That negative forcefield will affect everyone around you.
With all that negative energy channelled into actions, the results would be negative.
Nothing will hit. Maybe you can even fail a straight 221.
Which will allow everyone to continue to their descent to the bottomless pit of negativity
I may have side tracked a bit, but the points above is still important is still important
Over time, motivation from external factors will not be able to affect your performance any more.
At that point, every one will get fed up and progress would always be a fantasy.
The other kind of motivation is from within, from yourself.
The duration of such motivation would vary from individuals.
Your ego, your personal goals and such would be your motivation.
When you are motivated from within, you would have a drive to do something about it
You would take action steps to achieve your goals, to shut people up with your skills etc
There are 2 possible scenario
1. Everything goes smoothly , you feel more pumped with every passing second
2. Nothing goes smoothly, then you could either
-Feel sorry for yourself and wallow in your self pity OR
-Take a break and try again some other day, as you know that is still far from your limits
We all would have experience the above 3 scenarios at some point
" But it ain’t about how hard you hit. It’s about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward; how much you can take and keep moving forward. That’s how winning is done! " - Rock Balboa
Im sure many people would have read this before, it just means to have a never-say-die attitude.
Anyone with such attitude will succeed in every thing he does.
Motivation is nothing without discipline.
How many times have you heard people saying " I want to lose weight!"
After which you see them running for a day or two
Then you dont see them running anymore.
That is lack of discipline, without discipline achievement will always be a vision not an outcome.
And you would probably fail in every single aspect of life unless you are blessed by angels or devils.
Successful people become successful because of their strong self discipline
Why china always win every bloody Olympics because they have discipline carved into them since they were are kid and they stick with their regiment every day.
Want to win something this year?
Dont give excuses when you need to gym
Dont give excuses when you need to run
Dont give excuses when you need to stretch
Dont give excuses when you need to train
Dont give yourself any excuse to be late for training (ESPECIALLY THIS)
Dont give any excuses (Unless you really injured then bobian la)
Remember my fellow team mates, you are not alone, we are all in this conquest together!
Motivation is doing what needs to be done, when it needs to be done, when we want to do it.
Discipline is doing what needs to be done, when it needs to be done, when we don’t want to do it.
This makes all the difference between any individuals.
Hope I get my point across to the team.
